Dear Duggan Family, Thank you so much for the excellent job you did for the funeral services of my dad, Clarence Grider. Your kindness, care and dedication are greatly appreciated by our family. I would like to give special thanks to Steve Chiappari for his kindness, patience, humor and professionalism were extraordinarily helpful to our family during such a difficult and sad time. You can see his work is his calling. Another thank you goes to David Prudenciado for his seamless coordination of the funeral, his thoughtful note and for the limo pick up at the Basque. My family and I would also like to sincerely thank Pete Hupke our gracious limo driver, for his loving care and concern that day. It was extra special that knew of my great dad!Thank you Pete! Our family will be eternally grateful to the entire Duggan family and staff for their care and concern, and helping make my dad's services such a celebration of his life. Warm regards,
Dear Duggan's Serra Mortuary Staff, Once again, we thank you very much for the generosity we received for Sister Mary Paschal Elvin's funeral arrangements through Duggan's Serra Mortuary. Her funeral was August 3, 2017. Sister Mary Paschal was an extraordinary woman who dedicated her life to joyful and loving service to God in the Church through our Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation, San Francisco. We are most grateful to you and all your staff for the outstanding service we received. Sincerely, Sister. Giovanna Campanella, Sisters of the Presentation, San Francisco. Thank you!
To all the great folks at Duggan's Serra, I want to express my thanks and deep appreciation for the good work that you have done, and continue to do for us in the preparation of the bodies of our deceased Marianists. This past weekend I was in St. Louis to attend the funeral and burial of Father David Paul. The family requested an open casket for viewing before Mass. I was very impressed at how natural Fr. Dave's body looked. No one would guess that he had died over two weeks ago. Thank you, to each of you, for your consistent good work, from my initial phone call to Cleo, through the pick up of the body, through the embalming process, in the prompt arrival of the body for our wake service here in the community, and for the many, many other details that go unnoticed, your team has done excellent work. Congratulations on a job done very well! With my sincere thanks and deep appreciation. Brother Tom Redmond, S.M. Community Director The Marianist Center, Cupertino, CA
Brother Tom Redmond, S.M.
To the Staff of Duggan's, I wanted to say thank you to of you. As a representative for the Vasquez-Coleman-Smith Family. I only have praise for your professionalism and your personal kindness. Everyone that I came in contact with or worked closely with gave more than 100%! You all helped to make a tragically sad time run smoothly and alleviate some of the associated stress and anxiety! You should all be very proud of your part in it all. As a humble thank you, please enjoy these cookies I baked for you.
Christine, I appreciate all that you did and all that you are! Your kindness touched me. You made my life easier and performed beyond your job with pure love! I can picture your genuine smile and happiness at being of service to me and the Smith Family. Thank you for coming in on Saturday on your own time. Your presence comforted me. I know MMs is your go-to but I want you to try my go-to. Enjoy! Thanks,
Dear Karen, Thank you for all the time and heart you gave to our family while making one of the most difficult decisions in our life - the planning of my Mother's last ceremony. God bless you, Karen. thank you for referring us to Pastor Paul. He is truly a blessing! Love
Dear Karen, Did you ever meet someone, and after a few minutes, really feel comfortable and relaxed??? Well, I am home now in Concord and started to write my "thank you" letters. I just finished writing to Pastor Paul and I thought of you. You are that someone I am referring to!!!! Karen, I want to tell you, again, how much I appreciated you taking care of us in the planning of my Mom's services. You were very kind and considerate and gave us much of your time!!!!! You even put a smile on my face - even though my heart was so tender at that time. I had no idea that you would be one of the drivers. When we got out of our limousine and I saw that you were the driver in front of us - I thought to myself - what else does this wonderful woman do!!!! I find it very important to let people know when they have blessed me. It is important to me to tell you once again how thankful I am for you. You take your job seriously - it's evident because of your heart. God bless you, dear one.
Karen San Lorenzo, My children and I would like to offer our sincere thank you for helping us through the process from beginning to end. We appreciate all the help and support from you and your employees. I would also like to thank you especially for your help in obtaining my husbands death certificates and the planning of the service. Everything went well and we thank you for everything. Thank you for the wonderful necklace. I will keep it close to my heart always.
Flyriver Visan and Family
Our family would like to extend our appreciation for the professional and courteous assistance provided by Richard Fletcher during a truly emotionally challenging time for us. Richard carefully explained requisite steps, choices, as well as, consideration of requests from loved ones. Richard's attentive listening skills and responses helped relieve our concerns and clarified procedures which were unclear. My mom was appreciative of his respectful demeanor. Teresa Proano helped my brother, Basil, to attend to a number of details prior to the vigil and politely listened to his concerns. Teresa took the time to patiently go over necessary matters, consequently, Basil felt at ease and not hurried during their pleasant and informative conversation. The kind and caring interactions we collectively experienced, numerous times, with the Duggan’s Serra Mortuary staff significantly eased our worries and alleviated our intense grief. We are sincerely grateful.
Dr. Rowena M Shaw, Basil Miranda and Corazon Miranda
Dear Duggan's, We would like to Thank you and your staff for the wonderful way everyone served and helped us with the services of Doug Schrick especial Mr Armando De Anda who helped us in so many ways. I will be recommending your service to anyone in the need of this service.
The Schrick Family
Dear Mr. Mulholland: Please accept my deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude for the superb service your mortuary provided, necessitated by the death of my dear friend, Andrew (Andreja) Emile Vuckovich, deceased 9-21-15 and interred 9-25-15 at the Serbian Cemetery, Colma. Your representative, Armando De Anda, delivered commendable comfort, care, and consideration. His efforts were so successful that I asked for your name (and Mr. Duggan's) to express the satisfaction he earned, on my behalf and on behalf of Andrew's family. While I am not well experienced making funeral arrangements, Andrew was not the first person for whom I have done so. Recognizing that each situation is unique, there were many potential pitfalls and impediments in making Andrew's arrangements. Due to Armando's fine work and professionalism, they were navigated and overcome relatively easily. Armando succeeded in preventing them from becoming significant. This was my first direct experience with Duggans Serra as a consumer. I could not have been more satisfied and, given the opportunity, you can be sure I will not hesitate to share that satisfaction with others. Please extend my appreciation to Armando. Permit me to close with the verse from Psalms (118:24) with which I began my eulogy for Andrew. "This is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and celebrate it." May you make the most of what this day offers, while continuing to meet the needs of those facing one of life's most difficult and unwelcome challenges. Be well.
Ira B Poretsky
Dear Rene, On behalf of my family (Wakyu Chee Family) we wish to express our gratitude and thanks to you and the staff for the excellent service and kind hospitality granted to the family. The family was thankful to Duggan's Serra for allowing us to use the adjacent chapel to accommodate the big turn out on viewing (450) and funeral service (250).
Maurice and all
Dear Bill and Dan, Thank you so much for all that you did for us when our dad, Bob Mulcrevy passed away. We are so grateful for your love and support! Thank you for making sure our dad had a beautiful sendoff. God bless you! PS please come to "Millbrae House of Pancakes" to visit us!
Jan Kenneally, Gin Burke, Laura Mulcrevy, and Maureen Maguire.
Dear Dan, You are amazing! I can't tell you how pleased we were with the manner in which you handled the burial of my husband, Frank Kelly. With granddaughter Nicole throwing in curve balls every once in a while with slide shows and OLM "new" rules. I thought it challenging to make decisions at such a trying time. It helped that I've known your family for such a long time. We felt comfortable with you and your staff. Frank had not been well for some time, lost a lot of weight, didn't have very many "good days" but you made him look so peaceful and at rest. Thanks, Dan you made everything run so smoothly.
Sylvia and family
Dear Karen (San Lorenzo), So sorry I missed seeing you at 10:00am this morning. I think of you and all your help and genuine kindness everytime I work on my Dad's paperwork. Manzel and I promise to stop by and see you when our schedule allows. You will always be in my prayers, Karen. Take good care always! Just a little treat to go with your morning coffee. It's nice toasted.
Dear Karen (San Lorenzo), It's been 3 months since my Aunt Gloria passed. On that day, I came to Duggan's and you were my first contact. What luck for me! I can't begin to tell you how wonderful you were to me. I felt so cared for and I knew everything was going to be fine as you quietly took some basic information to get things started other followed through later. You are truly a gem Karen. Please enjoy a little gift of appreciation for all you did for me and my family.
Karen (San Lorenzo), Our gratitude comes from deep in our hearts. We thank you, we hug you and feel deeply blessed to have had you help us through our grief and celebration of our family's father. God's spirit shines through in people like you.
Debrah Killian and Family
Karen (San Lorenzo), Thank you for helping with the preparation of all the services for my mother Cathy Marshall (Thompson). She will be greatly missed and you made her departure special.
Arian & Family.
To Duggan's, A week ago on April 15th we had a funeral for my mother, Theresa Formosa. I wanted to let you know what a wonderful funeral it was because of the quality care and professional attention provided by the Duggan Funeral home. In particular, I want to commend Richard who handled the details of my Mother's funeral from the programs, to the holy cards, to the flowers and the music. His guidance was exceptional and much appreciated. And to thank Bill Duggan for personally overseeing the church service at St. Brendan's. He is a personal family friend and it was especially significant that he took the time to be there for the Formosa family.
Dear Rene, We will have a more formal thank you card in the mail soon, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to you and the rest of the Duggan family. On behalf of the entire Lou Family, we would like to thank you all for the very well done wake and service held at Duggan's Serra for my mother, Fannie Lai Lou. From Ryan who started us off and met with Mel and myself, then to you, Rene, and then on to the Friday night staff led by Phil, we were so cared for. Matt, our limo driver (and I hear is actually the grandson of the founders of the mortuary), gave my Dad and siblings such a calm and cared for ride all Saturday morning long that my families' minds were put at ease because we could see the great care. The turkey dinner was such an added blessing because it allowed my dead and siblings who live with him not to worry about meals for a week! We just felt that during the saddest times of our lives, we did not journey on that road alone. Please convey this to the entire Duggan Family for us. We are so very grateful for the way Duggan's sees caring as more than a business.
Robin Lou Kato
Dear Bill, The family appreciates your thoughtfulness for the gift of a living memorial by having a tree planted in Paul's name. I also wanted to let you know how pleased with your staff who came to our home that night, he respected our wishes which meant so much to all of us. Steve made a difficult time easier, he listened to us and was always there when we needed him, he was great to work with. Again thank you for the gift and for the support from your excellent staff.
Al, Clara Giannini and Family
Dear Bill I can't thank you and your staff, especially Mark Mulholland, for the especially sensitive care you provided my mother, Mary Medina, for her 'final evening' with us. The preparation on the part of your staff allowed us to view 'mom' as she looked years ago. The chapel provided, the setting, the genuine care shown by all your staff, helped to make an otherwise sad evening, lighter and helped set the tone for a celebration of family and friends afterwards at The Gold Mirror a truly memorable evening. It's truly wonderful that you and your family have not only chosen to but have been able to carry on the legacy of your family. Please know that should anyone I know find them in the position of needing your services I shall gladly recommend Duggans. On behalf of all mom's family and friends let me again say THANK YOU !
Dear Dan, We want to thank you for all of your help in making the funeral services for our father Louis M.. so beautiful and meaningful. We know you and all the staff at Duggan's paid careful attention to making sure every detail was taken care of. We appreciate your special care and thoughtfulness! May God Bless You and everyone at Duggan's!
The Louis M. Family
Steve Chiappari, Your kindness and care in working with my family was wonderful. I cannot express my thanks enough. You took care of every detail and helped in making my mother's services beautiful. I will never forget it. Being the eldest is difficult, making decisions and doing it "right" is always on my mind. Having you there to guide us was God's work first hand. I thank you on behalf of my mother who would have loved to have met your acquaintance. Take care of your children and wife and enjoy every moment. And know how content and peaceful we are due to your warmth and caring and compassionate way.
Mary Jo. G and Family
Dear Staff at Duggan's, Words cannot express my gratitude for what a phenomenal job you all did. After a long illness and dramatic weight loss, your embalmer made her look great and peaceful. Everyone was so professional and guided our family through the ceremonial portion of the passing of our mother. This eased our grief tremendously. It was also comforting to see a familiar face. Mary Lee and I were classmates at St. John's high school. I wish you all the best and will highly recommend your services to anyone in need of them. P.S. The turkey was delicious!
The Lopez/Conklin Family
Bud Duggan family, Thank you for doing such a great job for my husband, Richard G. funeral services on 3/28/12. We appreciate all the special care and professionalism.
Rich, Daniel and Irene G.
Dear Steve C, I want to thank you from the bottom of my for transferring my father's ashes from one urn to another. I know you didn't feel it was a big deal but it really was for my family and we are sincerely grateful for your kindness.
Chriselle Vega and family
Dear Dan and staff, I cannot thank you enough for ushering me and my family through the funeral for our beloved Frank. With your expertise, Dan, we felt completely supported throughout the entire process. We heard nothing but compliments on your handling of every detail, the singing, piano player, of course the church ceremonies, right up to the burial at Holy Cross (even the Irish tradition of the springing of the soil). Thank you Dan for taking such wonderful care of us. Your parents would be so proud of you.
Mary N. and Family
Dear Duggan's Staff, Thank you for being there for us in our saddest days and making us feel as comfortable as possible. God bless you, all Duggan staff!
The Martinez Family
Dear Steve C, Thank you so very much for making my mom's funeral a pleasant experience. My world is nicer because of you - thank you so much.
Carol Erickson and the Kearn Family
Dear Dan, I just wanted to drop you a note to compliment you on the fine staff you employ. Our family used your mortuary for my mother, Norma Z. and we were very pleased with all of your staff. The gentlemen who came in the early morning hours to remove my mother from her home and transport her were very respectful, each one of them. Steve Chiappari was very helpful in walking us through the whole process and guiding us along. Teresa's singing at my mother's mass was so beautiful. She has such a wonderful gift. And you can be very proud of your son, Matt. He was our driver and represented Duggan's very well. We found him to be very professional and courteous. When we arrived at our final destination and he presented us with a cooked turkey, you could have knocked us over with a feather. That was so kind and thoughtful! And just the kind of thing our mother would have loved! Thank you! We were very pleased with each member of your staff, and grateful for their competence in assisting us with laying our mother to rest.
Loretta Mc. and the Z. family
Dear Mark, Thank you so much for your kindness. I now understand why my family has come to Duggan's so many years. It's because of the kind people that work there. Thank you again.
Ted and Denise D
Good morning Mark, ….You and your staff there made my Dad's day of memorial and celebration of life, just the best it could be. Every detail attended to and in place. You totally surprised me with the turkey dinner, that was just over the top, as the box of thank you notes and etc, etc. The flowers were exquisite and Cindy and I have vases of flowers all over the house. I sent one of the orchids home with Bill. I have told every person I have spoken to that I plan on signing myself up at Duggan's for my eventuality. The care and love that comes out of every single staff member is so real, it makes me want to work there or just hang out!!! Seriously. Also, all our guests said that it was the best service they every attended. …. Please thank all the staff for the wonderful treatment we received and I will never forget your caring and love. Dear Steve C, Thank you, thank you and once again, thank you. Special thanks to you and the Duggan's team for the special care you all have given our son as well as our family. You all have gone far and beyond your call of duty to accommodate our requests as well as comforting us during our time of grief. May God's blessings be upon you all individually as well as a whole.
The T. Family
Dear Mark, … I had innumerable questions and did not know what to do but you did it all for me with gentleness, courtesy, and promptness. On April 12, everything—the mass, military honors, and committal service—proceeded very smoothly in spite of the rain and we attributed that to your professional expertise. Everyone in attendance had nothing but praise for how things were conducted. I miss Edward very much but I'd like to think that he is now pain free and happy in heaven getting together with his parents, my mother, and all his friends.
Dear Reuben and Linda, Just wanted to thank you both for your help last week – the memorial service for Robert went very smoothly and provided some closure for family and friends. Please also send my thanks to Mark who was extremely helpful on the day of the event.
Dear Mark, It was nice to have you with us, to help us on the passing away of our father. All the prep work was good time spent with you. Father Quinn was also great. I've had many friends tell us how nice the services were so Father Quinn was a big hit. Richard (Fletcher) was just great when he picked up my dad and helped me when you were busy. Once again thank you for all your help and the great turkey – we cut into it and it was tasty!
Loretta C and Melinda R

Dear Duggan's Staff, Mark, Steve C, Paula, Alanna, Richard, Keith, Pete and whoever else helped us. There are no words that are adequate enough to express my sincere appreciation for all and everything you did for my family, Bill and me, during Bill's wake and funeral. He looked so handsome. Paula, you did a fantastic, incredible job on him. You would never know that he suffered so much during the past eight years. Thank you Mark for making my first trip to Duggan's as easy as you could, and helping with all the requests and changes. Thank you Steve, for everything you did for me during the three night wake and funeral. You gave 100% and more to me which I am forever grateful. Thank you Richard and Keith for your kindness, compassion and service to us. You went above and beyond the call of duty. Duggan's can be proud that they are keeping the family traditions going with such an outstanding staff. Thank you again for all and everything you did.

Dear Teresa, Your singing at my mother's (Edda D's) funeral deeply touched her family and friends. Thank you for making it work out so beautifully. "The Prayer" was wonderful! It meant a lot to me to be able to her and end her service with that song. Thank you for a job well done. Thank you for using your God given gift to ease the pain we feel with with losing someone we loved a lot.
Nancy S (daughter of Edda) and Ron P (son of Edda)
Dear Mr. Duggan, We are writing this letter to acknowledge the outstanding and professional service provided to us by Reuben Houston, who handled the funeral services for our beloved family member, Arthur E. L., who passed away suddenly. One of us had previously attended a memorial service he handled for a friend, and was very much impressed by his manor at that time, so much so that when this untimely passing occurred, suggested he was worth waiting for to conduct Art's service. Unfortunately, by this time in our lives, we have both had to handle these arrangements more often than we care to count. However, we are both in agreement that no one has ever provided the level of service to us that Mr. Houston did. His compassion, his patience, his own faith guided us through those terrible days, and we felt as though we were in the hands of a good friend. We believe you can always tell when a person is doing a job they care about, versus the person who is just there to collect a paycheck. Fortunately for you, his heart is in his job. Even some of the pallbearers who assisted during Art's funeral commented that they had never worked with such a wonderful person in the past. Please express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Houston. He made life most unbearable moment somehow uplifting in spite of our sorrow. May God bless you, and especially Reuben.
Diane L. (of Daly City) and Kathy L (of San Francisco)
Dear Mr. Bill and Dan Duggan, On behalf of the Neil P family and Bernadette McK family, I would like to extend our gratitude for the services your organization and employees have extended to both families. I am the daughter of Neil P and daughter-in-law of Bernadette McK who both recently passed and had their lives honored at Duggan's Serra Mortuary. My father's memorial service was wonderful. The attention that Steve provided my mother, sisters, brother and me regarding the preparations was considerate, comforting and filled with much compassion. He should be commended for helping us get through this most difficult time. Deacon Jim Myers personalized the service so much that our family and friends could not believe we had just met this most wonderful man. He made it feel like my father was his long-time family friend. A few weeks later, my mother-in-law, Bernadette McK passed and the family had the pleasure of working closing with Reuben. My husband Dave, his brother Robert and sister Patricia were in uncharted territory but Reuben walked them through each step. He made the unpleasant task of burying their remaining parent seamless, respectful and memorable. These two gentlemen personally helped me endure the most unexpected task of burying two loved ones in such close proximity to one another. My father's life was celebrated at Duggan's on March 15th and my mother-in-law's on April 5th. Both services were different but each was nicely done and the attention to detail did not go unnoticed. You are truly blessed to have two wonderful young men who know their job, know how to help families during their most difficult events and do so with caring, compassion and professionalism. Both of my families are truly grateful.
Julie P. McK
Dear Mr. Duggan, I am writing to thank you for your generous Duggan's Scholarship. I am deeply appreciative of your support. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

Dear Duggan's Mortuary, I want to thank and commend your establishment for the wonderful, thoughtful, and patient support and service tended to myself and my bereaved family. The untimely passing of my mother last month shocked and numbed all the family. It was the quick and professional help from employees like Ms. Christine Roller Prudenciado that enabled our family to handle the many arrangements facing us. The understanding and sympathy extended to your customers is much appreciated, and I would gladly recommend your services to others in their time of need. I thank your organization for providing such an excellent service to the community. My mother's memorial service went a long way in giving us the closure and cathartic emotional release so necessary in the grieving process.
Dear Steve C, The Winant family wishes to thank you so much for your care over the details of Maureen's burial. You really took away everything we would have to worry about... and more. Dear Dan and Mark, We thank you so much for helping make a very tragic and awkward situation easier for us to handle. Murphy's law came about once more, but with your assistance it all worked out! Still wearing the shamrock scarf! "Top of the mornin!" was Sean's daily greeting. We say it as a prayer to him and his Dad. You might join us on occasion!
Duggan family, Thank you all for being so kind during our difficult time. It really meant a lot to our family. Thanks for the flowers and everything!

Dear Dan, On behalf of our entire family, thank you so much for everything that you and your staff did for our mother, Margaret Richards-Winkelman. In particular, we want to thank Mike Torres for working with us, and we were very happy that you and Matt were there for us for the mass and burial. Family means a lot at such times, and it's very comforting that we can depend on the Duggan Serra Family when we need to. Again, Many thanks!

Dear Mr. Duggan, We are writing this letter to acknowledge the outstanding and professional service provided to us by Reuben Houston, who handled the funeral services for our beloved family member, Arthur E. Luhman, who passed away suddenly. One of us had previously attended a memorial service he handled for a friend, and was very much impressed by his manor at that time, so much so that when this untimely passing occurred, suggested he was worth waiting for to conduct Art's funeral. We believe you can always tell when a person is doing a job they care about verses the person who is just there to collect a paycheck. Fortunately for you, his heart is in his job. Even some of the pallbearers who assisted during Art's funeral commented that they had never worked with such a wonderful person in the past. Please express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Houston. He made life's most unbearable moment somehow uplifting in spite of our sorrow. May God bless you, and especially Reuben.

Our Sincere thanks and appreciation to Armando (De Anda) for his kindness, his compassion and his dedication to our family. We are grateful to have chosen the Duggan's Serra Mortuary.
Dear Mr. Duggan, I am writing this letter to let you know of the awesome job Karen Sanlorenzo did. On July 24th a very dear, old friend died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Knowing that she wished to be cremated, I called the Neptune Society. I called Duggan's because I wanted a second cost estimate and because I wanted a second cost estimate and because you are closer to where I live than Neptune Society. I did not expect to use your company. Kren's professionalism, support, and enthusiasm changed my mind as I was on the phone. Enthusiasm sounds like a strange word to use in connection with cremation so let me explain. I was not comfortable burying my friend's ashes as she wished to be scattered. I also was not comfortable scattering her ashes at sea as she wanted to be scattered over land. My friend had recently moved to California and so there was no place here with meaningful memories. I started talking with Karen about how I had heard of a company that allows you to plant a tree using the ashes. Karen thought this sounded like an interesting idea and as we were speaking Googled the concept. Together we found a company that provides a biodegradable urn for this purpose. I have since purchased the urn and will be planting my friend in my backyard. I feel you should know about Karen's excellent work and how it changed a skeptical caller into a customer. I also greatly appreciate that she did not pressure me into purchasing items or services I was clearly not interested in. I would recommend her and Duggan's for anyone wishing to cremate a friend or family member.
