This past weekend I was in St. Louis to attend the funeral and burial of Father David Paul. The family requested an open casket for viewing before Mass. I was very impressed at how natural Fr. Dave's body looked. No one would guess that he had died over two weeks ago. Thank you, to each of you, for your consistent good work, from my initial phone call to Cleo, through the pick up of the body, through the embalming process, in the prompt arrival of the body for our wake service here in the community, and for the many, many other details that go unnoticed, your team has done excellent work. Our family would like to extend our appreciation for the professional and courteous assistance provided by Richard Fletcher during a truly emotionally challenging time for us. Richard carefully explained requisite steps, choices, as well as, consideration of requests from loved ones. Richard's attentive listening skills and responses helped relieve our concerns and clarified procedures which were unclear. My mom was appreciative of his respectful demeanor. Teresa Proano helped my brother, Basil, to attend to a number of details prior to the vigil and politely listened to his concerns. Teresa took the time to patiently go over necessary matters, consequently, Basil felt at ease and not hurried during their pleasant and informative conversation. The kind and caring interactions we collectively experienced, numerous times, with the Duggan’s Serra Mortuary staff significantly eased our worries and alleviated our intense grief. Dear Mr. Mulholland: Please accept my deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude for the superb service your mortuary provided, necessitated by the death of my dear friend, Andrew (Andreja) Emile Vuckovich, deceased 9-21-15 and interred 9-25-15 at the Serbian Cemetery, Colma. Your representative, Armando De Anda, delivered commendable comfort, care, and consideration. His efforts were so successful that I asked for your name (and Mr. Duggan's) to express the satisfaction he earned, on my behalf and on behalf of Andrew's family. While I am not well experienced making funeral arrangements, Andrew was not the first person for whom I have done so. Recognizing that each situation is unique, there were many potential pitfalls and impediments in making Andrew's arrangements. Due to Armando's fine work and professionalism, they were navigated and overcome relatively easily. Armando succeeded in preventing them from becoming significant. This was my first direct experience with Duggans Serra as a consumer. I could not have been more satisfied and, given the opportunity, you can be sure I will not hesitate to share that satisfaction with others. Please extend my appreciation to Armando. Permit me to close with the verse from Psalms (118:24) with which I began my eulogy for Andrew. "This is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and celebrate it." May you make the most of what this day offers, while continuing to meet the needs of those facing one of life's most difficult and unwelcome challenges. Be well.

Dear Dan, You are amazing! I can't tell you how pleased we were with the manner in which you handled the burial of my husband, Frank Kelly. With granddaughter Nicole throwing in curve balls every once in a while with slide shows and OLM "new" rules. I thought it challenging to make decisions at such a trying time. It helped that I've known your family for such a long time. We felt comfortable with you and your staff. Frank had not been well for some time, lost a lot of weight, didn't have very many "good days" but you made him look so peaceful and at rest. Thanks, Dan you made everything run so smoothly.

To Duggan's, A week ago on April 15th we had a funeral for my mother, Theresa Formosa. I wanted to let you know what a wonderful funeral it was because of the quality care and professional attention provided by the Duggan Funeral home. In particular, I want to commend Richard who handled the details of my Mother's funeral from the programs, to the holy cards, to the flowers and the music. His guidance was exceptional and much appreciated. And to thank Bill Duggan for personally overseeing the church service at St. Brendan's. He is a personal family friend and it was especially significant that he took the time to be there for the Formosa family.

Dear Rene, We will have a more formal thank you card in the mail soon, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to you and the rest of the Duggan family. On behalf of the entire Lou Family, we would like to thank you all for the very well done wake and service held at Duggan's Serra for my mother, Fannie Lai Lou. From Ryan who started us off and met with Mel and myself, then to you, Rene, and then on to the Friday night staff led by Phil, we were so cared for. Matt, our limo driver (and I hear is actually the grandson of the founders of the mortuary), gave my Dad and siblings such a calm and cared for ride all Saturday morning long that my families' minds were put at ease because we could see the great care. The turkey dinner was such an added blessing because it allowed my dead and siblings who live with him not to worry about meals for a week! We just felt that during the saddest times of our lives, we did not journey on that road alone. Please convey this to the entire Duggan Family for us. We are so very grateful for the way Duggan's sees caring as more than a business.

Dear Mr. Duggan, We are writing this letter to acknowledge the outstanding and professional service provided to us by Reuben Houston, who handled the funeral services for our beloved family member, Arthur E. L., who passed away suddenly. One of us had previously attended a memorial service he handled for a friend, and was very much impressed by his manor at that time, so much so that when this untimely passing occurred, suggested he was worth waiting for to conduct Art's service. Unfortunately, by this time in our lives, we have both had to handle these arrangements more often than we care to count. However, we are both in agreement that no one has ever provided the level of service to us that Mr. Houston did. His compassion, his patience, his own faith guided us through those terrible days, and we felt as though we were in the hands of a good friend. We believe you can always tell when a person is doing a job they care about, versus the person who is just there to collect a paycheck. Fortunately for you, his heart is in his job. Even some of the pallbearers who assisted during Art's funeral commented that they had never worked with such a wonderful person in the past. Please express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Houston. He made life most unbearable moment somehow uplifting in spite of our sorrow. May God bless you, and especially Reuben.

Dear Mr. Bill and Dan Duggan, On behalf of the Neil P family and Bernadette McK family, I would like to extend our gratitude for the services your organization and employees have extended to both families. I am the daughter of Neil P and daughter-in-law of Bernadette McK who both recently passed and had their lives honored at Duggan's Serra Mortuary. My father's memorial service was wonderful. The attention that Steve provided my mother, sisters, brother and me regarding the preparations was considerate, comforting and filled with much compassion. He should be commended for helping us get through this most difficult time. Deacon Jim Myers personalized the service so much that our family and friends could not believe we had just met this most wonderful man. He made it feel like my father was his long-time family friend. A few weeks later, my mother-in-law, Bernadette McK passed and the family had the pleasure of working closing with Reuben. My husband Dave, his brother Robert and sister Patricia were in uncharted territory but Reuben walked them through each step. He made the unpleasant task of burying their remaining parent seamless, respectful and memorable. These two gentlemen personally helped me endure the most unexpected task of burying two loved ones in such close proximity to one another. My father's life was celebrated at Duggan's on March 15th and my mother-in-law's on April 5th. Both services were different but each was nicely done and the attention to detail did not go unnoticed. You are truly blessed to have two wonderful young men who know their job, know how to help families during their most difficult events and do so with caring, compassion and professionalism. Both of my families are truly grateful.

Good morning Mark, You and the staff there at Duggan's made my Dad's day of memorial and celebration of life, just the best it could be. Every detail attended to and in place. I could not have asked for anything better. You totally surprised me with the turkey dinner, that was just over the top, as the box of thank you notes and etc, etc. The flowers were exquisite and Cindy and I have vases of flowers all over the house. I sent one of the orchids home with Bill. I have told every person I have spoken to that I plan on signing myself up at Duggan's for my eventuality. The care and love that comes out of every single staff member is so real, it makes me want to work there or just hang out!!! Seriously. Also, our guests said that it was the best service they every attended. Please thank all the staff for the wonderful treatment we received and I will never forget your caring and love. Dear Mr. Duggan, We are writing this letter to acknowledge the outstanding and professional service provided to us by Reuben Houston, who handled the funeral services for our beloved family member, Arthur E. Luhman, who passed away suddenly. One of us had previously attended a memorial service he handled for a friend, and was very much impressed by his manor at that time, so much so that when this untimely passing occurred, suggested he was worth waiting for to conduct Art's funeral. Unfortunately, by this time in our lives, we have both had to handle these arrangements more often than we care to count. However, we are both in agreement that no one has ever provided the level of service to us that Mr. Houston did. His compassion, his patience, his own faith guided us through those terrible days, and we felt as though we were in the hands of a good friend. We believe you can always tell when a person is doing a job they care about verses the person who is just there to collect a paycheck. Fortunately for you, his heart is in his job. Even some of the pallbearers who assisted during Art's funeral commented that they had never worked with such a wonderful person in the past. Please express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Houston. He made life's most unbearable moment somehow uplifting in spite of our sorrow. May God bless you, and especially Reuben.

Dear Mr. Duggan, I am writing this letter to let you know of the awesome job Karen Sanlorenzo did. On July 24th a very dear, old friend died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Knowing that she wished to be cremated, I called the Neptune Society. I called Duggan's because I wanted a second cost estimate and because I wanted a second cost estimate and because you are closer to where I live than Neptune Society. I did not expect to use your company. Kren's professionalism, support, and enthusiasm changed my mind as I was on the phone. Enthusiasm sounds like a strange word to use in connection with cremation so let me explain. I was not comfortable burying my friend's ashes as she wished to be scattered. I also was not comfortable scattering her ashes at sea as she wanted to be scattered over land. My friend had recently moved to California and so there was no place here with meaningful memories. I started talking with Karen about how I had heard of a company that allows you to plant a tree using the ashes. Karen thought this sounded like an interesting idea and as we were speaking Googled the concept. Together we found a company that provides a biodegradable urn for this purpose. I have since purchased the urn and will be planting my friend in my backyard. I feel you should know about Karen's excellent work and how it changed a skeptical caller into a customer. I also greatly appreciate that she did not pressure me into purchasing items or services I was clearly not interested in. I would recommend her and Duggan's for anyone wishing to cremate a friend or family member.
